Social Impact
Making a Difference In Our Community

Where it all started…

At Datatel, we make a point of meeting as a team at least once a week. It’s an opportunity for everyone to keep abreast of what their colleagues are up to and who may require assistance, as well as brainstorm new ideas.

And that’s when it happened…Someone spoke up with a call to arms. A member of our team brought up that we must get involved in the wider community. They had done their research and even had a presentation ready…

The presentation was all about community social impact and how important it is for us as a company, as a team, as individuals and as members of our community to get involved at the ground level with doing what we can to help those who are less fortunate.

For more than two decades Datatel has been fueled by a vision to make a meaningful impact on the future success of our customers. Our ambition was not just to create solutions but to forge paths that would make our customers more agile, profitable, secure, and successful. We decided then and there to bring this same level of focus and commitment when it comes to serving the community where we live and work.

Our team rallied for weeks, put in the hard work and emerged with a general consensus of wanting to be involved with an organization that serves disadvantaged youth. Almost everyone on the Datatel team has kids, and/or has worked with kids in the past and felt that kids and teens are uniquely vulnerable at the best of times. The 2+ years of Covid had made things that much more difficult for this group.

And voila… It happened. After weeks of self-reflection, thought-provoking conversations and individual research, we were able to arrive at an amazing organization to collaborate with whose initiative resonated with us both as individuals and as a team.

Datatel decided to join forces with Covenant House Toronto, whose mission calls to “serve children and youth on the street and to protect and safeguard all children and youth…with absolute respect and unconditional love”

Since then, Datatel’s Co-Ceo Barnard Crespi has now braved the elements to participate in the last 2 Covenant House Executive Sleep-Outs (November 2022 and 2023), raising money an awareness for young people who need a helping hand. And he will be participating in the next one on November 21, 2024, as well.

And it didn’t stop there…

Datatel has also been stepping up to help spread a little holiday cheer to those who need it the most the past 2 seasons by sponsoring a family in need through Holiday Helpers, a Greater Toronto-based organization that provides a one-time customized holiday package to families with young children, who are living in low-income situations.

All of this is our way of both giving back to the community today as well as helping to secure a better tomorrow.

At Datatel, we believe that a society that shortchanges its youngest and most vulnerable members is one that forfeits its own future. With that in mind, Datatel is involved with our community, working as a team to provide those who are in need with the support that will help them overcome their challenges, resulting in a brighter future for all of us and for generations to come.

We are extremely proud of our team here at Datatel, and we all feel privileged to be working with such kind, giving, and caring hearts.
